Math Doesn’t Suck
How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail
Danica McKellar has written the “Wow!”? book for middle school girls who are presently taking math – and these girls should all have this book. And next year’s crop of middle school girls should have it, too. And so on every year.
The first thing you should do is go to “How to Use This Book.”? McKellar has cleverly written Math Doesn’t Suck so you can just read it from beginning to end and have fun. You can also skip around. Or you can get help with tonight’s math homework, now.
For example, the hottest topic this March is the final report from The National Math Panel, which says students in middle school need a real understanding and easy relationship with fractions. Chapters 4-9 are all about dealing with fractions with great examples and step-by-step actions. Students who do well with fractions, according to the National Math Panel’s report, have a much better chance of succeeding in Algebra class and actually liking it. McKellar makes fractions as fun as going out for pizza (Chapter 7).
This book is a must read for students, teachers and parents, and it’s a great read for anyone ready to be delighted by math.
